SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE MARCH KIT.... BUTTERFLY DREAMS #4 Guest Designer

This is a layout that I created as guest designer for the wonderful SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE KIT CLUB http://scrapsofelegancekits.blogspot.com/. The pastel colors in this kit would work well for Easter, Spring, baby or any other layout that requires a soft color palette.  I love this Bo Bunny paper in the kit this month! Also included in the kit are the precious butterflies made by my friend, Renea (Reneabouquets) at Scrapbook.com . Her blog,  http://myglittercoatedlife.blogspot.com/ , has a full gallery of lovely scrapbook layouts. Also in the March kit are ZVA blue crystal flourishes, Petaloo flowers and a seed packet of Forget-Me-Nots! This week, the seeds will be planted in my garden! Last, but not least, is the little blue bow tied around the bunny's neck.
The Petaloo tissue trim, from my stash, seemed perfect, since it reminds me of Easter Grass. The fence is made with Grungeboard, then painted with Crackle Paint, both by Tim Holtz.
This little bunny was first die cut, then embossed, inked and splashed with a bit of color using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
What memories this precious photo brings back! This was taken Easter Sunday in 1992. We had been to church, out to eat, then we drove to Joe Pool Lake for picture taking. The bluebonnets were in bloom and Lee and Elizabeth were happy and playful. Liz was showing us one of the eggs that the Easter bunny left for her.

SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE MARCH KIT.... BUTTERFLY DREAMS #3 Guest Designer

This layout was created for SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE. What an honor it has been to serve as guest designer for the month of March.  It seemed that the colors in the March kit were perfect to convey just how long and hot our Texas Summer was in 2011. We struggled through  record setting heat, drought, critters and a slab leak...all while planning a  party for my mother's ninetieth birthday. The most frightening thing that happened to us was the fire that started in our neighbor's backyard pool pump. Fortunately, I was home and heard the loud popping in time to run outside and find our fence and three trees engulfed in flames! I grabbed our garden hose and did my best to keep the situation under control until the fire department arrived.  We didn't think that our long, hot  Summer would ever end!
Here are some flowers that I created using an EK Success punch called "Flower and Leaves".

I appreciate your comments.

What an honor it is to be Guest Designer for this amazing kit club.....Thank you, Mel!

How difficult it is to believe that this photo of my sweet daughter, Elizabeth was taken almost ten years ago.....the day after she graduated from high school. We had a photo shoot the following day because she had been too busy on graduation day. This is my favorite shot from that day, and it will live in my heart forever. When I saw the papers in the March SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE Kit, this photo was one of the first to come to mind.

Can you tell that I love details? Usually, when designing a page, I leave some little space somewhere that allows the eye to rest....but not here!!!! Had to add some of my own embellies: Kaiser Craft's Sweet Nothings Collectables, more Petaloo flowers, Melissa Frances Vintage Embellishments and make my own butterflies. Well, this month's kit is titled "Butterfly Dreams", right?!!

Hope you enjoyed these photos of the gorgeous SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE March Kit and will consider joining their club!

MAGIC

This is design team work that I created for the CRAFTY SCRAPPER in Waxahachie, Texas. It will soon be on display in the store.

This LO was done with the beautiful Serenity Collection by BO BUNNY PRESS and lots of MAYA ROAD products. Also, the leaves are by PRIMA.   The quote is a stamp by DYLUSIONS by Dyan Reaveley.  Techniques used include paper folding, machine stitching, die cutting, painting and a little fussy cutting.
For interest, I added some wire from my stash to the sweet little MAYA ROAD Butterfly Canvas and just twisted it to create the body and antennae.
Here, I cut, inked, folded and stitched the paper that lies horizontally, across the bottom of the photo.
The MAYA ROAD Decorative Scrolls Chipboard piece is painted with RANGER INK /  TIM HOLTZ Crackle Paint in "Fired Brick". The Tim Holtz Alterations Die Cut, "Festive Greenery" lent itself well to an Asian theme.

Thank you for your comments!
