Hello scrappy friends! Today I am sharing a few of the Christmas tags I have made for our family.

On the little tags I used a variety of techniques: Painting, embossing, and stamping. 

Most of the products are from my stash and some were given to me by my friends, Ann and Shawn. Merry Christmas, you two!

Our Christmas Family Recipies

Happy December, everyone! It's difficult to believe that there are only 16 days until Christmas! This layout is for the CSI Design Team and it is about our family's Christmas Recipes. 

As is usual for me, I used a lot of multimedia techniques. I stamped, painted, and embossed. In addition to MM, I tore the paper and popped up sections for a 3-D look. 

Here is how I solved Case File 220:

Scheme: All five colors
Evidence: Stars, Flowers, Snowflakes
Testimony: I journaled about holiday food

The title is, Our Christmas Family Recipes.  My journaling reads, "This recipe book is filled with the Wright and Rogers cherished recipes that have been used at Christmas for decades. My hope is that future generations will know how important and loved these recipes are and will continue these traditions at Christmas and always. Here is a quick look at one of the recipes in the cookbook:

How I enjoyed doing this layout about a little book I created to hold our family Christmas recipes! 

Some of the recipes include my paternal grandmother's recipes for turkey and dressing, a recipe for cranberry relish from my brother in law's mother, sweet potatoes from my mother, 24 hour salad from my husband's aunt, and my mother in law's tea cake recipe. Inside the book is space where future generations may add more loved recipes.

Each Day is a Story Worth Telling

Hi everyone! Just sharing my layout for Case File 218 at CSI. We also have a Facebook page. This challenge was so much fun for me because of the journaling I decided to do. You'll see what I mean by the end of this blog post. 

Here is how I solved the case:

Scheme: All five colors used
Evidence: bow, leaves, animals, circles
Testimony: #12 from Carry On Tuesday: The Story is in the journey not the destination.

Also, I am entering this layout in the Blue Fern Studios November Challenge. 

For this chipboard piece, I altered it a bit. There were snowflakes on it and I didn't want to make snow a distraction from the theme, so Dr. Rogers got out her handy dandy snippers and snipped away. The patient is coming along nicely. 

As most of you know, we recently went to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a week....it was so nice to take a break from the Texas heat, and when we got back things started cooling off here. We got some cool weather a week before our Texas friends!

Journaling, Part 1: "Hack and I had been planning our trip to Santa Fe for a couple of months when we discovered that our favorite TV show is filmed at several sites within an hour or so from Santa Fe. We had originally planned to drive to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta, but quickly decided to see where the Longmire TV series is filmed instead."

Journaling, Part 2: "Longmire takes me back to a place, time and a person I loved dearly. The TV series draws a strong parallel to the life of my grandfather, who was a western lawman. As we stood on the porch of Walt Longmire's cabin, I couldn't help but think of 'Dandad'."

Journaling, Part 3: "James Robert "Red" Wright, my grandfather, began his career as deputy city marshal of Arlington, Texas in 1908 and within a year became city marshal.  He was elected Sheriff of Tarrant County, Texas and later was appointed U. S. Marshal of the Northern District of Texas. During his more than forty years of law enforcement he handled many a criminal from Machine Gun Kelly to Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. They were just a few of the 20,000 prisoners he handled during his time in law enforcement, and none ever escaped. Like Longmire, he was a lawman who was dedicated to his electorate and had a strong sense of duty and justice, just as the fictional character Walt Longmire was. Unlike Walt Longmire, he was the 'real deal'."

Beauty for *My Creative Scrapbook*

Hello everyone! Today, I'm sharing a little secret that I have kept to myself for at least a month. It is my honor to have been invited to be a guest designer at My Creative Scrapbook!

Brave for *My Creative Scrapbook*

Hello friends! Today, I'm sharing a layout and two cards I created as a guest designer for My Creative Scrapbook. 

Can you tell I'm in the mood for fall? A couple of weeks ago my husband and I took a road trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We had so much fun taking in the vistas in the dessert, shopping, enjoying the cuisine....I could go on and on! Naturally, I was busy taking pictures and had to include one of them in this layout.

The November Limited Edition Kit at My Creative Scrapbook is filled with the just released Memories by Blue Fern Studios! The wide color range gives the scrapper bright colors to work with as you can see here, as well as soft pastels and neutrals as color choices.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with the lovely Blue Fern Studios frames included in this kit from My Creative Scrapbook as well as all of the wonderful embellishments gathered for your scrapping pleasure. 

I enjoyed the little wooden butterflies especially and found them easy to alter or color to match each project.

Sunshine for *My Creative Scrapbook*

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for My Creative Scrapbook. What a joy it was to get creative with these gorgeous papers by Blue Fern Studios and the many, many embellishments in the November Limited Edition Kit!

The DIY Alphas took the color of my watercolor perfectly, as did the DIY Wooden butterflies. 

I added paint splatters and modeling paste over an area of the paper where the photo would eventually be.  I colored the central area with ink that is a dusty rose color. This worked nicely with the Prima flowers in the kit. I painted the edges of the flowers white. 

Here, I used a few layers, some tearing, distressing   and 3-D work to create depth and show off the beautiful Blue Fern Studios papers. 

The chipboard was treated with a little heat embossing and then arranged with the Blue Fern Studios flowers and Prima charm to create a feminine point of interest near the photo. I used a stencil and modeling paste to give texture and pattern to the butterfly, then spritzed it with gold spray.

Fall

Fall is my favorite season of the year. I'm not sure if it's because of all the beautiful colors of the trees before the leaves drop gracefully to the ground, or if it's the crisp, cool air. Perhaps it's because there is so much to do, such as football games, haunted houses, Halloween fun...or is it because my birthday is in Autumn. Maybe it is the anticipation of the coming holiday season. Who knows? Maybe it is all of the reasons above!

I Think You're Wonderful

Hello scrapbook friends! Today I am sharing a layout I created for the CSI Design Team and as my entry in the October Challenge at Blue Fern Studios. The photo is of my daughter when she was thirteen.

Testimony: I wrote my story in the form of a free verse poem.
