*Blue Fern Studios* Fan of the Month, Joy and Love

Hello Scrappy Friends! I'm back with my final post as "Fan of the Month" for Blue Fern Studios. There are two layouts for this post. The first one is called "Joy", and honors my son and his girlfriend.

Blue Fern Embossing powders (Think Ink) are always easy to use. First, I apply embossing medium onto the chipboard, then sprinkle it with the embossing powder and use a heat tool to melt the powder. On the background piece of paper, I use a stencil and modeling paste to give texture, then splatter two colors of paint.

One of my signature techniques is 3-D work. I start by cutting an image from the paper, then ink the sides of the paper to blend the colors onto the middle part of the paper so the white middle portion of the paper cannot be seen.

Now, for the second layout today, titled "Love". My husband is not in the photo because he is usually the photographer on holidays, but our two children are in it, as are my parents.

I usually decide on one or two colors to splatter onto the background, and this layout is no exception. The multiple pieces of paper seen directly behind the picture from the "Spring Parade" collection receive a little distressing, then are popped up for dimension.

Next, comes the fussy cutting of the images I wanted to use, blending the sides makes them look as if the ink goes all the way through the paper.  Last comes popping them up and gluing them in place.

Many times in my work, I add texture to the paper by using a stamp, embossing medium and powder, as you can see here.

*Blue Fern Studios* Fan of the Month, Happiness

Hi everyone! I'm back with a layout for Blue Fern Studios again! What an honor it is to be Fan of the Month!  This layout was created with the beautiful Spring Parade collection. I loved all of the soft pastels!

Click here to see the process video I made while getting creative with these lovely products!

What a precious little bunny to pop up! Blue Fern Studios papers have beautiful images if you like to use this technique.

The beautiful chipboard seemingly floats above the textures and paint that I added to the base paper.

Honoring My Husband, Hack

Hello scrapbook friends! Today, I'm sharing a layout that I created for the CSI Design Team to honor my wonderful husband. Wednesday, April 19th is Husband Appreciation Day, and I want him to know how much I appreciate him.
I am very blessed to have been married to him for forty two years and look forward to many years.

Speaking of Color Stories Inspiration, I would like to tell everyone who participated in the challenges over at CSI that there is currently a design team call. You can check it out here

Now, back to the layout....

Here is how I solved Case File 228:

Scheme: Used all five colors
Evidence: Arabesque shape, frame, branches,
      flowers
Testimony: Journal about your husband

Techniques used are tearing, painting, heat embossing 3-D work, masking.

Honey,

Please know that from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all that you do for our family and for us as a couple. You "have my back" always and have put me on a pedestal. I am grateful for you!

*Blue Fern Studios* Fan of the Month, Easter Joy

Hi everyone! It's Patty Rogers again to share a layout I created with the beautiful "Spring Parade" collection by Blue Fern Studios. What an honor it is to be Blue Fern Studios Fan of the Month!

I wanted to use this photo of my two children as they were running and searching for eggs on Easter Sunday. They were always very competative!

Don't you love the "Spring Bunny Frame"? The charming little bunny and it's size are perfect for the trend in scrapbooking to use a small photo.

For this piece, I used a variety of papers from the "Spring Parade" collection. The stripes in "Sunrise" begged for a horizontal or vertical design. I used an inking sponge to darken the paper behind the area of interest. This technique draws attention to the area and makes it pop.

Some of the background work that I did can be seen here. First, I used "Essential Textures" stamp to play up the brick wall seen in the photo. I embossed the chipboard with two colors of embossing powder, then lightly added glitter. Also, I added a few splatters of gesso.

This  beautiful little girl is one of the many reasons I love Blue Fern Studios products! I fussy cut and popped her up for dimension. Also used here is "Garden Lattice Bits" in the background to repeat the garden theme. I seem to be hopelessly addicted to dimension, texture and beautiful paper!

Placement of the flowers is close to the frame, to draw attention to the focal point. I painted a bit of gesso on the flowers to give them a lighter feel.

*Blue Fern Studios* Fan of the Month, Cute Stuff

Finally, I can reveal some news that I have been keeping a secret for a while now. This is not an April Fools joke. Blue Fern Studios has named me Fan of the Month for April! I've been told that it it is the same as being a Guest Designer. All of the papers are from the brand new Spring Parade collection, and they are beautiful!  The colors in the papers, flowers, embossing papers and glitter could not have been any more perfect for the portrait of our daughter, Elizabeth, when she was six and wearing her Easter dress.

Techniques used for this layout include paper tearing, painting, crimping, stamping, heat embossing, 3-D work, fussy cutting and work with a stencil and modeling paste.
