Love You Forever

Today, I'm sharing a layout that I created for The Crafty Scrapper design team. When I photographed the layout it was a dreary winter day, so the paper looks blue, but it actually is white. Products used here are Elle's Studio, Everyday Moments Collection paper, Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Maya Road Embellies, Memento Ink, Modeling Paste, Prima Mask, Ranger paint and ink.

Texture and dimension add a richness to scrapbooking and I love to use both. Here, I used a mask and modeling paste to add dimension. The white modeling paste can be tinted with whatever color of water based paint you choose, or you can leave it white. Here, after the tinted modeling paste dried, I got out my  Basic Grey files and took a little of the color off to give a bit of a shabby look to the piece. Don't you think that is appropriate on a layout about a couple that's been married almost forty years? LOL!

In the pictures above and below, you can see where I spritzed the bottom layer of paper, then took the top off the bottle and flung the paint onto the paper to achieve larger spots. What fun!

And yes, 39+ years is turning into forever.

Thanks for your comments. They are always appreciated!

Multimedia Collage

Today, I'm sharing a project that I created for my daughter, Elizabeth. It's called a multimedia collage, and it is so enjoyable to make.
The really nice thing about a multimedia collage is that  meaningful items can be used to personalize the collage for the intended recipient.
Some of the goodies here are by Ranger / Tim Holtz others are by Hobby Lobby.

Buttons, antique jewelry from family members and keys can be seen here. The mesh is just dry wall patch from Lowes.

One of my favorite findings that I added was the little Frozen Charlotte (upper left).

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Just wanting to share a few of the Valentines that I made.
This one is for my son, Lee. Personally, I  don't think any products can beat Tim Holtz for a masculine Valentine's Card.

This is the card I made for my husband. On both of the first two cards, I used Ranger/Tim Holts Distress Ink Distress techniques.

Last, but certainly not least, is the card I made for my daughter, Elizabeth. I used an embossing folder, washi tape and just had a lot of fun!

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

DETERMINATION

Hi everyone! Sharing a layout that I created for The Crafty Scrapper Design Team!

Papers and stickers used here were the Journey Collection by Authentique, Dylusions stencil, Maya Road Embellishments, Ranger Crackle Accents and Stampers Anonymous.

This layout was fun and easy to make!

Some of the techniques used here are paper tearing, inking, layering and fanning the papers, stamping, masking and  painting.

The inspirational journaling here is done in calligraphy.

Thanks for taking a peek at this layout. I appreciate your comments! I hope to see you at The Crafty Scrapper!

Let the Sunshine In

Boys rule....what can I say? Especially the ones that are too cute for words. I created this layout for Case File 134 over at CSI. That's Color, Stories, Inspiration for those of you who are just now following me.
Every second week of the month a sketch is provided  at CSI by the wonderful Emma Straface and everyone wishing to participate has to create a layout through their eyes, and inspired by Emma's sketch.

Techniques used here are border punching, inking, fussy cutting, machine stitching, and 3-D work.

Another technique used is masking, which gives the layout a lot of texture and pattern. I used one stencil for the background circles and a second stencil with modeling paste to get the desired texture.

Also, I doodled on the elements so they would have added interest.

You can see more of the 3-D work here and how it causes everything that is popped up to stand out!

Supplies used:

Bo Bunny On the Go Collection paper
EK Success border punch
Liquitex modeling paste
Little Yellow Bicycle Splash Collection paper
     and diecuts
Prima wooden button and heart, white metal
     frame, mask, color bloom mist
Recollections Foam Adhesive Circles
Stampabilities Pigment Ink
Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz layering
     stencil
Studio Callico wooden chevrons and word
From my stash: baker's twine, marker, navy
     thread

Thanks for taking a peek! See you next time.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

This is a layout that I created to celebrate mothers and daughters. Specifically, it celebrates the love and friendship between my daughter and myself.
Techniques used were inking, distressing, fussy cutting, 3-D work, die cutting and adding texture. In this photo each pennant is double cut and double popped up, so they appear to be floating on air.
With the exception of a small metal heart, baker's twine and an earring that belonged to my mother, all paper and embellishments are by Prima.

Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels was spritzed onto the Prima Resist Canvas butterflies, and Prima Self Adhesive Jewels were added after the canvas dried. Using a Sizzix die cut created a lacy botanical addition to the page.

I created a frame within a frame using a Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page, then cut, distressed, painted and  folded back the inner frame.

Products Used:

Color Box Cat's Eye Ink
Liquitex Modeling Paste
Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page- Vintage       Floral
Maya Road Baker's Twine
Prima Paper- Lyric Collection
Prima embellishments- flowers, mask, bling,
canvas resist, resin bird, wooden ticket and              paper clip notes
Prima/Donna Downey mask- Damask
Sizzix Die Cut- Branch w/ Leaves
Tim Holtz/Ranger Crackle Paint- Picket Fence
From My Stash- small metal heart, earring

CLAIRETTE

This layout was created with a lot of love and affection. The young lady in the portrait is my  paternal grandmother, who died when I was six years old. I wish that I could have known her for a much longer time, but it didn't work out that way.
Clairette loved the traditional feminine past times such as sewing, cooking and painting, as was the custom in the early twentieth century. I remember looking through her box of oil paint tubes and feeling in awe of her talent.
This little cameo was added to the layout to represent the cameo brooch that she found on the sidewalk one day as she was window shopping. She picked it up, but never discovered the original owner.
The little beehive represents her industry. She was always busy with her many interests and with being a good homemaker, wife and mother.
The small handpainted button is from my stash and the tiny scissors are from the Barbie house that I had as a girl.

There is a little story behind the journaling which is very meaningful to me. When my father was nearing the end of his life and he and I were enjoying some time together, I asked him to tell me the most important thing that his mother  taught him. He thought for a moment and then said that the most important lesson she taught him was, "Always Tell the Truth".

This layout was created in honor of Clairette, who was a very wise woman.
