Achievement is the Power

Recently a dear friend of mine, My Cup of Tea, AKA Poetry in a Pot of Tea sent a gift of Gelatos to me. I have never worked with them before, but have always admired the work of those who use them and have to admit that I had a lot of fun playing with them. Thank you Shawn!

Over at CSI we have a fun challenges this week. I enjoyed working with the colors and finding evidence in my SBR. Thanks, Debbi, for always giving us something wonderful!

I hope everyone is just as excited as I am about the lovely chipboard prizes this month from 2Crafty Chipboard. Thank you, 2 Crafty for the plethora of gorgeous chippies (above) that one lucky participant at CSI will win!

Now, back to the layout that I did about my amazing son, Lee. He recently graduated from the university with a degree in biology and our family is so very proud of him for his accomplishment!

Recently, a dear friend sent a box of Gessos to me, saying that she knows how much I enjoy experimenting with new media and techniques.  I have to admit that I  had a ball with them! I used them on two of my Valentine cards this year and this was my first try at using Gessos on a LO. The colors are so bold and fun to play with, AND the paint stick goes on nice and creamy and can be manipulated in different ways.....Love, love, LOVE IT, Shawn! AKA: MiCupofTea. Thank you!

In the photo above, it is a little easier to see the gray vs. the tan. Unless you use a discerning eye, they are pretty close in their appearance. That's why I had go include this photo of the two adjacent to each other.

Products used:
Blue Fern Studios chipboard
Crafter's Workshop, 3 stencils
Gellatos
Kaiser Craft clear stamps
Laquitex Gesso
Maya Road clear stamps
Prima flowers
From my stash:
     white cardstock
     brown paint

Thanks, everyone for stopping by. See you next time!

Sunrise Sunset: Swiftly Flow the Days

Hello scrappy happy friends! What a delight it was to create this layout about our son, Lee! It chronicles in photos, his life so far. This piece was created for the CSI  design team. You can see that the scheme calls for lavendar, and I promise that I included it by using Prima mist.

Our sponsor this month is 2 Crafty Chipboard. They have some lovely chipboard pieces to choose from in their wholesale store!

At CSI this month there will be a drawing for some of the beautiful chipboard from 2 Crafty, so be sure to check out the beautiful pieces you could win this month at CSI.

Inspired by lyrics from the song, "Sunrise, Sunset", from the musical Fiddler on the Roof, this layout is filled with texture, dimension, techniques and multimedia.

On the chipboard I gave it texture using modeling paste and then painted the raised areas.

Here, you can see where I stamped, painted and embossed  an area needing to be highlighted with some fun techniques.

I decided to use a marker to add color to the edges of the banner and top it all off with a beautiful Prima flower.

My friend Carol Deal, who is also on the CSI design team, and I commented recently how we cannot seem to do a layout without adding flowers. Then, she replied that a layout is not a layout without flowers. So true, Carol! Check out Carol's blog here. She does the most beautiful work and I am always inspired by her creativity!

Products Used:

  • Blue Fern Studios chipboard
  • Kaiser Kraft paper
  • Maya Road chipboard number

And now for the journaling:

"Where did all the years go? To your dad and me it seems like only yesterday when you were learning to walk, then ride a bike and later to drive a car. Now you're a college graduate with the whole world before you. Be wise and keep on preparing for your future."
