Island Time

Hello friends! September is coming to a close and I need to share a very special layout I created for a challenge at Blue Fern Studios. What a treat it was to do this piece with the gorgeous Seaside Cottage Collection! The paper and chipboard are stunning and I especially enjoyed working with the Imagine Ink Embossing Powders, stamps and flowers, also by Blue Fern Studios.

It's Time for a New Challenge

Welcome to September, and a brand new Blue Fern Challenge!  This month we have an awesome Mood Board for you.  This Mood Board was motivated by the feel and colors of our Seaside Cottage collection.

You may draw inspiration from the colors, the theme, or the texture.
You may take little bits from several areas of the mood board.  It's up to you!

I drew my inspiration from the theme and happened to have a perfect photo of my son and his sweetheart from a trip to the Caribbean for the wedding of her sister.

Zooming in a little more ..... is this eye candy or what?

I cannot say enough about the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios papers. This is one of many examples of their stunning and romantic papers.

Grateful for You

Fall is officially here in the U.S. and I decided to make a photo of our daughter the centerpiece for this layout at CSI Color, Stories, Inspiration. Our family get-together for Thanksgiving was held at my sister in law's home in Dallas.
Here is how I solved the case file:

Scheme: all five colors used
Evidence: grid pattern, numbers, flowers, leaves,
      tape measure, scallops
Testimony: I used a prompt from Can Teach. "What would you do to entertain your family without spending any money?

Here, you can see a close up of the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios paper, flower, chipboard and a stamp.

Don't you just love the embossing? Think Ink Embossing Powders by Blue Fern Studios have so many gorgeous colors to choose from. I embossed the title, "Grateful for You", with a bit of a bubbly looking finish.

I always do some 3-D work on my layouts.
I can't help myself....the Blue Fern Studio Paper is so gorgeous, that it begs to be noticed, so I pop it up in hopes it will be seen before everything else!

A Walk on the Beach

Hello scrappy friends! Today I'm sharing a layout I created for the
CSI Design Team. The photo is one I took while in Hawaii a little over a year ago. What an amazing view it was along the north shore of Maui! The sun was getting low in The Pacific Ocean, creating a back lit effect.
Here is how I solved Case File 212:

Scheme: All five colors used
Evidence: Frame, shiny gold elements, flowers
Testimony: I chose Art Journalist for my writing prompt. #5, "List of places you have traveled to."

I had a bit of a brainstorm regarding the treatment of the chipboard. Instead of heat embossing the title, I applied glue, then sprinkled the Blue  Fern Studios "Oatmeal" Imagine Ink Embossing Powder on top of it and and gave it a tap to take away excess powder. Last, I used Ranger Glossy Accents to appear as drops of water from the sea. Voila! The chipboard looks just like sand!

I adore the beauty of Blue Fern Studios papers and you can see why in this bit of fussy cut , popped up collection of sea/ocean themed eye candy. Also in this photo can be seen the shiny gold sea shell and a bow also tied to it that has more of a metallic shine than the charm.

This photo has a piece of "fish net" made from a sack for tiny little oranges that I saved from a trip to the grocery store.

My sweetheart of forty years and I enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. This photo was taken at the same location as the large photo in the frame.

I also applied some of the Oatmeal embossing powder to the flowers below, but did not actually heat emboss them.

The journaling reads, "On Pinterest I have a pictoral list of places I have traveled to and remember fondly. One such place is this scene along the beaches of Hawaii. The exact spot was at Mama's Fish House Restaurant along the north shore of Maui."

Wish

Hello scrappy friends! Today I'm sharing a layout created for the CSI Design Team. It was a real treat to go back and try to imagine Christmas 2015 through my son's eyes.

Above, you can see the prompt. Here is how I solved Case File 211:

Scheme: All five colors
Evidence: Stripes, doily, chipboard
Testimony: I created a little book with my journaling inside.

As is the norm for me, I did a lot of layering...

....and included a little fussy cutting that is popped up for a 3-D effect.
