You Shine

This is such a special layout to me. It is about a friendship that has lasted more than thirty years. One of my dearest friends, Ann, and I have so much in common. For more of the story, please read all the way down to the journaling tag.

This sweet layout is for the CSI Design Team. Here is the CSI prompt. In  order to solve this challenge, I had to dig deep into my imagination:

Scheme: Used all five colors
Evidence: Puffy sticker, stripes, wet medium
Testimony: From Photo a Day...Someone who makes you happy

A little embossing makes the title pop! Ann does shine. She was a wonderful teacher and is a delightful friend.

Can you tell that this is a school picture? I scanned it, then used Pic Monkey to make a collage of two black and white photos and one color photo.

As usual, I did a lot of multimedia work on the background before adding the photo and embellishments. I was determined to add this precious little bunny with a child riding it, since Ann collects bunnies. She decorated her classroom with them and uses them to make her home lovely with too. I think that might be a second grader riding on the bunny!

I decided to use a stencil with X's and O's and enjoyed adding paint splatters and embossing powders to create an interesting background.

Aren't the colors beautiful together?

The journaling reads, "I hardly remember a time when I didn't know and love Ann. We have shared so much together...our faith, belonging to the same church, our hopes and dreams for our two families. Our children went to the same school when they were young. Ann and I have taught at the same school seemingly forever. We are thrilled that our friendship survived teaching on the same team, and know that we are blessed to have been "in the trenches together". Now that we are both retired we enjoy getting together once a month for lunch. We share our concerns, our faith, news of our family and mutual friends. Sometimes we share things that sadden us....but mostly, we share lots of laughs. This lady makes me happy!"

Thanks to all my scrappy friends who leave a comment!

  5. Hello Patty,
I left a comment over at CSI but couldn't drop by without telling you once again how much I admire your work. I wish I had a fraction of your talent.

Thank you for the explanation of the steps you take to keep your papers laying flat after all the work you do with mixed media. I will keep your tips in mind the next time I try a mixed media layout. They are hit or miss for me. I throw out way more failed attempts than keep the ones I feel are successful.

Hope you are staying cool in the hot Texas heat.
À la prochaine. Until next time.
    Jacynthe ☺
