Happy

Hello, my scrappy friends! It has been a while since I last posted on my blog, but after satisfying a couple of wanderlust needs, I am able to get back to what I love....scrapbooking!

This layout for the CSI Design Team is near and dear to my heart. It is about how happy I am to see my son find someone special in his life. In addition to the story, the colors are beautiful this week, so give it a try and play along.

Our three sponsors this month are Flair For Buttons,  Funky Flairs Studio, and Scrapmats. Be sure to check these out for fun and unique scrapbooking supplies.

Our permanent sponsor is The Flying Unicorn. If you haven't already seen the elegant and varied kits and supplies, you need to hurry and get on the band wagon!

As is the norm for me, I used a lot of fussy cutting and layering for this piece.

Here, you can see more fussy cutting, layering and embossing behind the word, "Sweetheart".

The chipboard is painted with gesso, then dark blue paint and sponged over with a lighter blue paint. The chipboard window is done, using the same technique, but the darker blue is applied first, then the lighter blue on top.
Also, this area was masked and I applied modeling paste to achieve greater texture in the background.

After having taught school for years, I still have transparencies left over. I put them to good use here, by using alcohol ink, a blending tool and blending solution to achieve a mottled effect.

Next, I traced the window shape onto the transparency and cut it out before applying it to the chipboard. Here, you can also see the stamping technique that I used on the XOXO chipboard.
